Momentum Coffee, a local Chicago coffee shop, is opening their second location at Millennium Park on November 19, 2021. Their first location is the South Loop neighborhood which has been popular with locals and visitors alike. The new cafe location will be located right behind the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink steps from Michigan Ave.

This location will serve as a place for locals and tourists to stop in and get a taste of Chicago. Momentum Coffee will present a version of their South Loop menu. On the menu is hot chocolate, locally roasted coffee, tea, pastries, and their beloved Chicken Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant along with some other grab and go snacks. In addition to the food and drinks, Momentum will showcase products from local, small and black and latinx owned businesses. Momentum Coffee will continue its mission to provide opportunities for people to #shoplocal and #shopsmall while they pop in to #powerup.

Ice Skating at Millennium Park

Momentum Coffee is excited to serve the skaters at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park which returns for its 20th anniversary season, open daily from November 19 through March 6 (weather permitting). Admission is free, but online reservation tickets will be required. Snacks and hot drinks will be available from Momentum Coffee.

New to Ice Skating? It can be a lot of fun. First, you have to find your size skates which can be rented on site. Next, you lace up the skates and make sure they are tight enough but not too tight because your feet will swell while skating (especially if it’s been a while since you last ice skated).

You also have to make sure your toe stops are on the right way so you can keep your balance. If it is your first time ice skating, the City of Chicago, Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) will present free skating lessons (reservations required) from 8–9am on most Saturdays and Sundays from November 20 through March 6, 2022, teaching beginner and intermediate ice skating and hockey skills. Free lessons are made possible by the McDonald’s Active Lifestyles Endowment managed by the Millennium Park Foundation.

Time for ice skating! Start by waddling around, getting used to the skates and if you have someone with you how they move. Then, start skating side to side and getting used to the ice, how it feels under your blades. There’s nothing like gliding across a fresh sheet of ice and feeling like a kid again.
